State Horse Judges and Show Management Conference - February 19-21

Who Should Attend: New applicants or current judges on the PA 4-H Horse Show Judges List & open show judges, Horse show management and officials, and Competitive horse judging team coaches and members
Tentatively scheduled sessions: New PA 4-H Horse Show rules and rulebook test, Scoring Trail and Over Fences classes, Judging Saddle Seat classes, Responsibilities and tips for judges and show officials, Contest classes rules, equipment and set-up, Patterns and course design, Show management guidelines and safety planning for county and district shows, Information for judging team coaches and members, Judging references and resources

Horse Bowl/Skillaton Contest - February 15

When: Monday February 15, beginning at 4pm
Where: Extension Office, Towanda
Who: Any 4-H member (Ages 8-18)
Teams: Each club can send as many teams of (4) 4-Hers as possible or as many individuals as possible (individuals will be put into teams at the contest).
Lunch: Pizza and drink will be provided. Each team should bring a snack to share (Veggies, fruit, chips, cookies, etc)
Awards: Handed out at the end of the contest
Horse Bowl and Hippology contests will be run simultaneously; however, teams can compete in both contests. *All questions for the horse bowl contest will be taken from the packet that can be obtained from the extension office. *Hippology test questions and skillathons are taken from 4-H book activities, reference guides and popular horse publications.
Registration:  Register below by sending your name in a comment or contact your leader.
Volunteers: Parents and leaders are needed to ask questions, keep score, keep time, grill, etc.

State Dairy Judging Clinic for Coaches and Sr. 4-Hers - January 30

When: January 30
Where: Penn State University
What: Training on the new PDCA scorecard, comparative traits and terms, taking notes, and giving reasons. Coaches and 4-H member, 13 years and older, will also travel to a local dairy farm to judge and discuss a couple classes.
Travel: Gary will be attending the training and will be able to transport 4-H members. Please call Gary at 265-2896 to register and attend.
